Sam (age 6) and I went to the TAC (Trad Archers of California) shoot this weekend
(April 5-6) - 2 days, great fun, great course, great folks. It was a fantastic
time.
Sam is working on building distance - - right now 5 yds is his "kill zone"
(he's confident and can hit well at that range) and he's working on expanding
to 10 and a bit beyond. Doing pretty well out to 10 or so.
One of the targets was a standing grizzly. The adult stake was about 40 yds
and out of the blue Sam says "I want to try a shot from here". We
coached him a little(just a little) - "aim higher... a little higher..."
and he loosed.
At 40 yds he not only hit the bear, he nailed the spot!
The group completely erupted in cheers.
And Sam lit up like a Christmas tree.
Come to think of it, so did I.
